SLC Results-Michelle is the new VP!
The 54th annual State Leadership Conference of North Carolina Phi Beta Lambda has just concluded and in the words of Dr. Prescott..."Wake Tech has swept the conference!" Congratulations to all who competed and placed. Wake Tech was truly the talk of the town this year as we showed everyone what we could do! Out of 38 competitors, 36 placed and TWENTY-SIX students will be heading to nationals this summer in Atlanta, Georgia as they placed first or second at the state level. Our own Michelle Holder won the position of Central Region Vice-President. She worked tirelessly on her campaign trail with the endless help of her campaign manager, Robert Mitchell, as well as other fellow PBL members, Patricia De-Anda Likes and Nick Armstrong.
In the chapter awards we are the second largest chapter in the state and won first in both Increase in Chapter Membership and Percentage Increase in Chapter Membership. Congratulations to all of you who were able to participate.
Dr. Prescott had this to say:
"Those who were not able to go, I encourage you to talk with people who were there. At the end our members were cheering and hollering so loud that I almost tried to quiet them down (but I didn't). Eat your heart out Campbell and N. C. Central."
Right on!

Advisors Appreciation Day
Dear Dr. Prescott and Mrs. Deaton,
It is with the utmost gratitude that our chapter thanks your overwhelming support. Your efforts and enthusiasm for us overwhelmingly exceeds our expectations. It is because of your sincerity and involvment, that our chapter has had so much success this year. Your contribution of vast knowledge as well as guided support have both been major attributes to our club and without them, we would not have reached so many achievements.
Thank you for your continuous encouragement and blessings of our desire to further our education. We would not have the same fortitude, without your tremendous endorsements and assistance. For you are the rock, upon which we merely stand.

Information Booth-Why should non-Business majors join PBL?
Our chapter Historian Michelle Holder and our Parliamentary procedure committee officer, Patricia DeAnda-Likes, set up a booth today, in the Student Services Lounge. They both wanted to give out information out about who we are, and what Phi Beta Lambda is, as well as to stress the importance of why people should join our chapter.
“So many people think this is just a club for Business majors and we want to let people know that is not the case. You don’t have to be majoring in Business to become involved with us. For example, I had a student tell me they were going into teaching. When you teach, you are a part of a school, and the school is a business. Everyone in nearly all occupations are involved in business in some way, they just might not realize it. We want to reach those people and let them know that there is a huge benefit to networking within our club, regardless of their chosen occupation or major.” –Patricia DeAnda-Likes
Thanks to Michelle and Patricia, several new members were recruited. Both of these ladies have done a tremendous job promoting our club by putting out table toppers in the cafeteria as well as designing t-shirts for our club members. Thank you ladies for your all of your hard work!
